To be elected President, a candidate must:

The Congress is made up of two houses: the Senate and the House of Representatives.
The Senate consists of two Senators from each state. When a senator is elected, he serves a six-year term. Until 1913 senators were elected by state law makers but since that year senators have been chosen by the people's vote.
The House of Representatives consists of 435 members. Representatives are elected from congressional districts and serve two-years terms.
The two main parties in U.S. politics are the Democrats and the Republicans. When a president is elected he or she serves in gornment for a period of four years. After four years elections are held, if the president and vice president win, they stay in government for another four years. However, a president can only ever serve for two terms, eight years in total.
The American Constitution is the Supreme law of the U.S.A. It's one of the oldest Constitutions, written in 1787 and still in use. It was adopted by the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia and succesfully adopted by the thirteen States of the Union. Originally, it was composed of 7 articles and other articles and amendments, called "The Bill of Rights", were added over the years . The American Constituion assured rights are freedom rights, such as: the right of speech, the permission to assemble peacefully, the freedom of worship, the freedom to carry and possess firearms. The abolishion of slavery and women voting rights were passed in 1920.
In America, there are a lot of problems like in many other countries in the world. The American institutions need to solve problems of crime, poverty, racism. There isn't a national welfare system and blacks are yet subjects of racism episodes and are, on average, less rich and less well educated than the whites. In many states there is the death penalty and many crimes are caused by the freedom to carry and possess firearms.
